The Festival of Moments returns to the capital

The eighth incarnation of the New Zealand Improv Festival comes to BATS Theatre this 4-8 October, with a stellar line-up of spontaneous theatre and instant comedy performed and directed by top improvisors from around New Zealand and the world. Once again, Wellington is host to the largest national meeting of improv practitioners in NZ, where shows are created from nothing, skills are sharpened, and moments of magic are made.

Workshop Registration Open!

Festival Feedback Welcomed

We had a spectacular time this year at NZIF and we hope you did too. Our art is so fleeting, but it is wonderful to share these experiences with a delighted audience. 

There are times, however, when the work gets away from us and the shows become beasts different to those imagined. This year was the first year we operated with a Code of Conduct for our participants and performers, and it's been a challenging and rewarding conversation as we ensure our work is accessible, diverse, and respectful of each other and of our audience.

A Sweeping Saga of Generations Made Up by an Audience

Celebrating 25 years of their company, The Improvisors remount a favourite improv format for the New Zealand Improvisation Festival 2015 at BATS Theatre. Family saga Tree of Lives hits the stage on Thursday 8 October at 9pm. Working closely with the audience, The improvisors provide the family tree; audience tell them which branches, eras and relationships they want to see.
